Research on front covers

From the research I have done on front covers I have found:

• The language used in music magazines is mainly informal, words are sometimes shortened and punctuation is often missed out. This is done to appeal to the audience it is aimed at as it uses slang that that audience would know. For example Hip Hop magazines  use lots of informal language to attract the teenagers that use this language and are into their hip hop music.
• The main image used on a music magazine is usually a person or group of people who are famous from that genre of music. These images used are done in a range of camera shots from close - ups to long shots. Close ups are normally used if it is an individual so they are easier to recognize and a wide shot may be used so the whole of a band could fit into the frame.
  
• Often the masthead of a music magazine contradicts that of the main stream magazine. Normally the masthead is used to attract an individual and encourage them to buy the magazine so it would be large and easy to read. A music magazine's masthead is often covered up in order to get the main image of the page to be larger.
• The headlines and sub-headings are used to get the possible reader interested in the magazine. These are often a synopsis of an article or perhaps a interesting quote that an individual has given.
